Experience Montana's Most Charming Mountain Town at Red Lodge KOA

Named the Most Charming Mountain Town in America by Travel + Leisure in 2024, Red Lodge, Montana, is the perfect basecamp for unforgettable outdoor adventures, scenic drives, and family fun. When you stay at Red Lodge KOA Journey, you'll be surrounded by breathtaking mountain views, world-class recreation, and some of the most spectacular scenery in the Rocky Mountains.

Just minutes from the campground, you'll find the legendary Beartooth Highway, a 69-mile National Scenic Byway that Charles Kuralt famously called "the most beautiful drive in America." This unforgettable route climbs through Montana and Wyoming, passing alpine lakes, glaciers, waterfalls, and rugged mountain peaks before reaching the northeast entrance of Yellowstone National Park. For an even greater adventure, connect with the nearby Chief Joseph Scenic Byway and complete one of the most scenic driving loops in the American West. With elevations exceeding 12,000 feet and panoramic views stretching for more than 70 miles, the Beartooth Loop is considered one of the premier mountain drives in the United States. After a day of exploring, return to the comfort of Red Lodge KOA, where you'll find accommodations for every type of traveler. Choose from spacious KOA Patio® Sites, full-hookup RV sites, water and electric RV sites, cozy one- and two-room camping cabins, or shaded tent sites nestled beneath Montana's big sky.

Our family-friendly campground offers a variety of amenities designed to make your stay memorable, including:

  • Brand-new commercial playground
  • Giant 30' x 30' jumping pillow
  • Gem mining sluice (open to both campers and the public)
  • Banana bike rentals
  • Oversized dog run
  • Gaga ball pit
  • Park-wide WiFi

Throughout the season, Red Lodge hosts popular festivals, live music events, rodeos, car shows, and community celebrations that draw visitors from across the region.

Outdoor enthusiasts will find endless opportunities nearby, including hiking, mountain biking, fly fishing, wildlife viewing, ATV trails, horseback riding, and year-round adventures in the magnificent Beartooth Mountains.
